Spiced Blueberry Tea

This is one of my favorite cocktails to have when it’s chilly outside and you want something warm and soothing to sip on. Often this drink is made with Orange Pekoe tea, but I prefer to use blueberry herbal tea as the flavor in more intense. In a pinch I have used earl grey and it was still pretty tasty. Disaronno Italian Liquor and Triple Sec are my choices to further enhance this cocktail, but you can also use Amaretto, Grand Marnier, Brandy or most any other clear liquor you have on hand.

Directions:

Boil the water and pour into a large tea pot along with the blueberry tea bags and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Discard tea bags. Place an orange slice and cinnamon stick into each class. Add 1/2 ounce each of Disaronno and Triple Sec into the glass. Pour tea over top and stir with the cinnamon stick to combine all the flavors.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cold water
  • 2 blueberry tea bags
  • 2 ounces Disaronno
  • 2 ounces Triple Sec
  • 4 orange slices
  • 4 cinnamon sticks

Fat Free Eggless Eggnog

I am not a huge fan of consuming raw eggs, and obviously, they are the main ingredient of traditional eggnog. It is also very high in saturated fat, with some varieties containing up to 20 grams per serving! And yet I love the taste of eggnog. On it’s own, in lattes, smoothies, or in desserts. This recipe not only excludes eggs altogether, it is also fat free when you use skim milk. A total win-win! However, you can adjust the eggnog by using whichever milk you like. Almond or soy milk is also very tasty. Although vanilla extract is added mainly for color in this recipe, you can further enhance the flavor by adding different types of extracts. Peppermint, almond or banana are great additions. I love serving this with Spiced Rum.

Directions:

Place the pudding mix into a bowl and add the extracts of your choice. Slowly pour the milk into the bowl and whisk thoroughly until smooth. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until until thickened. Pour into glasses and sprinkle with nutmeg.

Ingredients

  • 12 cups skim milk (or milk of your choice)
  • 2 packages of instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon peppermint, almond or banana extract (optional)
  • Spiced Rum (optional)

Candy Cane Martini

This martini looks so beautiful and festive, its hard to believe it’s so simple to put together. The candy cane rim on the glass is especially pretty but you could serve this drink garnished with a small candy cane placed in each glass instead.

  • Ingredients
  • 2 cups vodka
  • 1 cup peppermint schnapps
  • 1/2 cup grenadine
  • 1/2 cup candy canes, crushed
  • 2 wedges of lemon

Directions:

Combine the vodka, schnapps and grenadine in a shaker and add ice. Place the crushed candy canes onto a small plate to coat the bottom. Rim each martini glass with a lemon wedge and place upside down into the plate. Move each glass in a circular motion until the rim is coated with candy canes. Repeat with all the glasses. Shake the martini mixture for 30 seconds until cold and strain into each glass until full. Serve immediately.
